Complete all applications with black or blue ink.

Remember that every application has different rules, qualifying criteria and have different document requirements. Double check these before submitting.

Double check all names, addresses, etc. that you have used in other applications to be sure that they are appropriate in the current one.

Proofread everything twice. A single typos and a missing detail or document can make the difference in your winning or losing a scholarship.

Make sure that you meet all deadlines.  If you have to have recommendations from others, make sure that you give them more than adequate time.

Don’t ask someone for a recommendation unless you know that they will give you a great one.

Don’t exaggerate OR under promote your positive qualities, skills, activities, grades, etc.

Customize your responses to the particular scholarship

Be sure to apply for as many scholarships that fit you as you can.

Don’t stop applying for scholarships once you enter college. About 1/2 of scholarships are for current college students.
